| We use the little "finger lights" in our fountains. They are pretty tough little critters. Once in awhile, we'll accidently hit one at just the right force on the stones in our fountains, or let them slip out of our fingertips and end up with a broken glass cover... We've figured out how we can make our little lights a little less prone to accidents.
Take a 2" long piece of clear 1/2" inside diameter tubing. (Our pumps use this size tubing, so we always have it around) With a pair of sissors, cut through the tubing lengthwise, so the tubing is split. Put the piece of tubing over the glass cover of the finger light. It will fit all the way around and be snug. There you have it! Your light will be protected from the little bumps that could shatter the glass and the tubing will not affect the appearance or operation of the light at all.
Other Light Tips: Always make sure your light stays submerged when it is on. The water keeps it cool.
In the event that you need to change the Halogen bulb, always use a piece of tissue to handle the new bulb. Handling the bulbs with bare fingers greatly reduces the life of the bulb.
Have you ever tried to change the clear lens cover and found when you tried to slide on a new or colored lens cover it's vary hard to slide down over the rubber part of the light? TRY THIS! Before you slide the cover over the rubber part of the light, wet the rubber section with saliva! The saliva works as a lubricant and the cover will slide down easily!
